What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a health care profession that addresses the cause of dis-ease and dysfunction by correcting spinal and extremity subluxations.
What then is a subluxation?
A subluxation is joint fixation that leads to inflammation, biochemical irritation, nerve dysfunction, muscle spasm and joint degeneration.
Why is a subluxation so bad?
The lack of motion between adjacent vertebrae leads to a buildup of toxic waste products within and around the disc (IVD). Lack of adequate nutrient supply and waste removal leads to further disc degeneration, inflammation and nerve root irritation.
The nerve dysfunction caused by subluxation can lead to neck / back & body pain, biomechanical dysfunction, nerve damage, muscle wasting, vascular dysfunction and organ failure.
The muscular component of the subluxation is primarily a protective mechanism used to prevent further nerve damage but muscular dysfunction is also a byproduct of nerve irritation and a buildup of local waste products.
The orthopedic / bony component of the subluxation may lead to spinal degeneration, calcium deposition, disc degeneration, altered spinal curvature, osteo-arthritis and spinal fusion.
Chiropractic Care addresses the orthopedic and neurologic components of the body by correcting spinal and extremity subluxations.
This allows the body’s nervous system to function without interruption or interference.
Adjustment
What is a chiropractic adjustment?
A chiropractic adjustment is a specific manipulative technique used to restore normal position and motion and therefore reducing pain and nerve interference in and around the spinal and extremity articulations.
Why is normal motion important?
Normal motion of the spine allows each vertebral segment to move independently, pumping the disc (IVD) between. This pumping is necessary for normal nutrient supply and waste elimination. Extremity joint function is also important for proper mobility and peripheral nerve function.
Why an adjustment helps.
The bony spine protects the spinal cord. Even a small disturbance of normal spinal functioning can affect delicate nerve tissue and cause many common health problems. The chiropractic adjustment reduces nerve dysfunction and retards the degenerative process started by joint fixation.
Are adjustments safe?
Numerous government and private studies have found that not only is chiropractic care the preferred and most effective form of initial care, it is also the safest.
Chiropractic Care addresses both the orthopedic and neurologic components of the body by correcting spinal and extremity subluxations. This allows the body’s nervous system to function without interruption or interference.
Why is the nervous system so important?
”The nervous system controls and coordinates all organs and structures of the human body” (Gray’s Anatomy, 29 ed., page 4)

What can Chiropractic
do for neck pain?
Many neck problems, though not usually life-threatening, can impair your health if not corrected. Damaged or irritated nerves from misaligned cervical vertebrae can cause neck pain.
The chiropractic approach to treating neck pain is to find the source of the problem and correct it without surgery or the use of medication. By correcting the source of the problem, the body can heal naturally without nerve interference.
What can Chiropractic
do for back pain?
Numerous government and private studies have found that not only is chiropractic care the preferred and most effective form of initial care for back-related problems, it is also the safest.
What can Chiropractic
do for extremity pain?
Many people don't realize that chiropractic care is beneficial for more than neck pain, back pain and headaches. It can also help with the shooting pain (into the arm, leg or other areas of the body) that is associated with a pinched nerve as well as extremity joint pain.
(examples of extremity joints are shoulders, hips, knees, ankles, feet, wrists, elbows, hands and jaw)
All sensations are carried by the nervous system, some of which are pain, numbness and tingling. The central nervous system is protected by the skull and vertebral column. However, once the nerves come together, outside of the skull and vertebral column, they have no bony protection, only a thicker outer covering on the nerve itself. Therefore, these nerves can easily become irritated by extremity joint dysfunction. That is why the peripheral nervous system depends on proper extremity joint function to remain free from irritation.
Accidents, Injuries and Chiropractic
Many patients leave the emergency room with hidden health problems that only increase over time.
What should I do after an accident?
Of course, the first priority is to receive the necessary medical care to preserve life and limb. However, after the danger has passed, it is time for healing to begin.
Restoring proper joint mobility and functionality of the spine or extremities will usually require an on-going program of specific spinal and/or extremity adjustments combined with simple exercises. Your Chiropractor will closely monitor your progress throughout your rehabilitation.
''A Disease Occurring World-Wide in Epidemic Proportions"
Subluxation and spinal degeneration usually begins with a vertebra out of alignment. The lack of motion stresses the surrounding disc and nerve tissues.
Left untreated these subluxations cause calcium deposits and bone spurs, which eventually lead to disc degeneration, nerve damage and vertebral fusion.
Health
Your health affects everything you do and everyone you know.
What is a Chiropractic adjustment?
An adjustment is a term that describes specific manipulative techniques used to restore normal position and motion to the spine or extremity joint
What is Chiropractic?
Chiro(hand)-practic(practice)-is by definition a hands on profession that has been shown safe and effective for men, women, children, infants, even animals and at all ages from infants to the elderly.
Why an adjustment helps!
The spinal cord (part of the central nervous system) is protected by the vertebrae (bones of the neck and back). Even a small disturbance to normal vertebral motion can affect delicate nerve tissues and cause many common health problems.
Chiropractic Adjustments!
More than 280 million Chiropractic visits each year.
Finding and corrrecting interference to the body's own natural state of good health is what chiropractic care is all about.
Chiropractic care treats causes rather than the symptoms of health problems such as stress, headache, whiplash, low back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome and scoliosis to name a few.
All ages can enjoy healthier living through chiropractic care, a hands-on, drug-free health care approach.
