Osteoporosis
through Weight Loss
Osteoporosis
Calcium and Vitamin D have been a part of almost every successful osteoporosis clinical trail. Both nutrients in combination have been shown to reduce bone fractures in compliant users. Both reduce parathyroid hormone, (reducing bone loss) and improve coordination (reducing falls). (Whole foods are the best source of calcium)
*Vitamin D3 with K2 (2,500 IU) (NA)(60 caps) $18 - Vitamins D3 and K2 work in synergy to promote healthy bone mineralization and blood vessels (helps prevent pathological vessel calcification) . The natural K2 menaquinone-7 form used in Dyna D3 w/K2 is the most bioavailable, longest lasting and bioactive form of vitamin K supplements. Caution: Use D3 without K2 if you take blood thinners such as heparin or Coumadin / warfarin.
Weight resistance training
(Start slow & under a doctors supervision).
Parkinson's Disease
*Vitamin D3 with K2 (NA)(60 caps) $18 - Vitamin D reduces the risk of falls in older people, and appeared to reduce the progression of the disease. Studies suggest low vitamin D levels could increase disease progression. Vitamins D3 and K2 work in synergy to promote healthy bone mineralization and blood vessels (helps prevent pathological vessel calcification) . The natural K2 menaquinone-7 form used in Dyna D3 w/K2 is the most bioavailable, longest lasting and bioactive form of vitamin K supplements. Caution: Use D3 without K2 if you take blood thinners such as heparin or Coumadin / warfarin.
*CardiOmega (NA)(120 caps) $47- A well-done trial with PD patients from Brazil found that fish oil reduces depressive symptoms when compared to placebo. And other studies suggest omega-3s might help maintain and increase muscle mass. Cautions / Interactions: Omega-3 fatty acids may interact with aspirin or warfarin. In addition, Omega-3 fatty may interact with cholesterol lowering statin medications and antihypertensives.
Caffeine (1 or 2 cups coffee daily) could reduce the risk of PD.
Higher uric acid levels may slow the progress of Parkinson's Disease.
Peripheral Neuropathy
Vitamin B1 (thiamin) deficiency is a common cause of neuropathy in alcoholics,
people who've had weight loss (bariatric) surgery and diabetes.
Low levels of B6 and B12 have also been associated with neuropathies.
*Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) 250mg (P)(90 vcaps) $30
OR *Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) Plus 600mg (P)(60 vcaps) $36 - There have been more than 15 randomized trials looking at the benefits of ALA to patients with PN. It was found to improve nerve conduction and reduce neuropathic symptoms, and it has a great safety record. It is generally the only therapy that can both help prevent and treat peripheral neuropathy. Just be warned: It can cause a harmless malodorous urine smell and increase the risk of rash and itching, and it can also increase insulin levels and drastically drop blood sugar levels in very rare cases. Cautions / Interactions: Blood hormone levels and thyroid function tests should be monitored closely in people taking thyroid hormones who are also taking alpha-lipoic acid. Also, because it may affect insulin sensitivity, blood glucose levels should be monitored closely when alpha-lipoic acid supplementation is added to diabetes treatment regimens. In addition, alpha-lipoic acid supplementation may increase the requirement for biotin in humans. Alpha-lipoic acid may affect the body‘s metabolism of certain medications, including Cisplatin and Cyclophosphamide.
(Low levels of Vitamin B1, B6, B12 can lead to PN,
Ask your Doctor about a B-vitamin blood panal)
(Numerous common medications can lower the levels of some B vitamins)
(I have seen Chiropractic adjustments help
many patients with this type of nerve pain)

Cautions / Interactions: CoQ10 may reduce the anticoagulant effect of warfarin. In addition, CoQ10 may increase the effectiveness of certain blood pressure medication, including diltiazem, metoprolol, enalapril, and nitrate. Statin medications have been shown to decrease CoQ10 levels in the body and CoQ10 supplementation may be beneficial when taking these drugs.

*St. John's wort (NW)(100 vcaps) $12.99, (250 vcaps) $25.99 - Researchers are still trying to figure out exactly how St. John's wort works, but it seems to block serotonin uptake. Increasing levels of serotonin inhibit the ejaculatory reflex and delay ejaculation. Since the number one prescription treatment for PE is SSRI-type drugs and St. John's wort works in the same way, it's easy to understand why it's easy to recommend.

OR 750mg capsules (NW) (90 vcaps) $27.99
OR 750mg capsules (NW) (180 vcaps) $49.99 (Second line) - Low nitric oxide levels may increase the risk of PE by increasing sensitivity or stimulating the ejaculatory reflex. Therefore, L-citrulline, by increasing NO levels and decreasing sensitivity, is believed to help postpone the ejaculatory reflex. Cautions: If you are pregnant/lactating, consult your healthcare practitioner before using this product.
Premenstrual Syndrome and Primary Dysmenorrhea
Calcium (from whole foods) and a daily doses of vitamin B6
have been shown to reduce PMS symptoms.

Cautions / Interactions: Flax seed oil is generally well tolerated, but has been associated with mild gastric disturbances. Some evidence suggests that flaxseed may moderately interact with anticoagulant and estrogen medications.
Flaxseed is the food/seed with the highest amount of ALA (an essential omega 3 fatty acid found in seeds, nuts and many common vegetable oils). Does that mean ALA supplements would also help prevent prostate cancer? More research in needed.

Another study over 4 months resulted in appetite suppression, weight loss (8-9% of body weight) and waist reduction (6-11 centimeters). It also led to lower blood pressure (up to 8 points systolic & 6 points diastolic).
